William J. Clemens, Esq. will join our firm as a member effective February 1, 2007.
Mr. Clemens, an electrical engineer and attorney, has over 30 years of experience counseling and representing clients in connection with U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks and copyrights; intellectual property licensing; contracts for developing, purchasing and licensing computer hardware and software; infringement; and other technology-related legal matters. He has experience with a wide range of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and software applications, including the design and testing of electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical and chemical processing devices, equipment for manufacturing and inspecting glass containers, automotive and architectural glass, glass fiber insulation and automotive chassis and suspension components. His expertise also includes elevator controls, glass, plastic and composite containers, plasma display panels, television tubes, glass melting furnaces, vehicle speed controls, windshield wiper motors and controls, axles, brakes and antilock braking systems, clutches, transmissions, programmable microprocessor controlled devices and computer-based information systems.
Admitted to practice law in Ohio and Michigan, Mr. Clemens is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Toledo Bar Association, and is a past President of the Toledo Patent Law Association. Mr. Clemens became a patent agent registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1973 and was registered as a patent attorney in 1974. After earning an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, Mr. Clemens was employed as a project engineer at the Prestolite Company in Ohio and New York and as an engineering manager at Leigh Systems in New York. He comes to Fraser Martin & Miller LLC from the law firm of Butzel Long in Michigan. Butzel Long and Fraser Martin & Miller LLC formed an Intellectual Property (IP) Alliance in November 2006.
Effective February 1, 2007, Fraser Martin & Miller LLC will become Fraser Clemens Martin & Miller LLC.
